ASL-English Bilingual-Bicultural Common Celebrated Holiday and Observance Cards

Children, students and ASL learners of all ages will enjoy seeing two languages to be available for those common celebrated holidays and observances. The ASL is presented in the illustration that is drawn by a Deaf artist, Tamara Davidson while the English text is presented at bottom. 

A single card of any chosen Common Celebrated Holiday/Observance can be purchased at $10 for a print and $8 for a digital file.  Also a complete pack of 10 cards can be purchased for $45 in print or $40 for digital files.

Two options are also offered for you to purchase: prints or digital files.

For prints:  There are 3"x 3" glossy, sturdy cards showing the common celebrated holidays and observances in both ASL and English text. They are designed to be inserted in appropriate slots or stand up on their own. You will be able to easily copy the signs and practice with these cards. These cards will make an excellent addition to any home, office, or classroom and can be used either as handout cards or posters.

For digital files:  These digital files can be downloaded directly into your computer and be incorporated in your presentation slides, flyers, or handouts.  The size of these digital files are 900px by 900px and are high resolution at 300 dpi, and packed in a WinRAR zip.

If there is another holiday or observance that is not on the list and you want to included in the calendar, you may make a request here. A new single card can be purchased separately for a price of $10 for a print and of $8 for a digital file.

This package is separate from the calendar package. However, the cards of the common celebrated holidays and observances can be used in the calendar at school, home or any other events. Teacher’s Guide Notes

Each teacher’s guide note provides the teacher with in-depth details/information about the content from the slides and HYES DVD/book.  This is to help gain teacher’s confidence in teaching the material within the guide notes. 

  • Every guide note starts with a short paragraph of introduction
  • Each guide comes with in-depth information and details which corresponds to the content shown in the PowerPoint presentation
  • Several Reflective Questions with sample answers (there are no required right or wrong answers) to give teachers an opportunity to help their students learn the material during the class period
  • Classroom Activities with detailed instructions
  • Several Assignments for students to complete (they can be used for homework)
  • Each Assignment will have a rubric (or several rubrics) for the teacher to use in evaluating and grading
  • Several Assessment Questions with sample answers, to give teachers an opportunity to check their students’ progress at the end of the class
  • One Critical Thinking section, with accompanying questions
  • Complete Reference list to get more information as needed

Powerpoint Presentation

Each student note is intended to provide the student with a sense of what they are going to learn from the contents within the slides and HYES DVD/book. Additional information about student notes is listed below:

  • Each student note comes with selected information about the content in the PowerPoint presentation
  • Student notes will give the students a chance to review what they have learned
  • Student notes will help reinforce their learning process from or during the class
  • Student notes will help reduce the students’ tension/stress when writing all that rich, detail-filled information in their notes
  • Student notes can be useful as a guide for their examinations (Study guides are already provided for examinations as well)

A set of 44 PowerPoint presentations (PPs)

Each PowerPoint presentation contains:

  • Key points to support the content
  • In-depth content about the featured handshape and related subject matter
  • Colorful artwork and authentic pictures related to the topic

Each Powerpoint presentation has the range of slides from 25 to 45.

All PowerPoint presentations are organized by handshapes used in HYES.  There are 44 handshapes in HYES.  Each PowerPoint presentation files are categorized by page number groupings in the HYES DVD/book.

Each PowerPoint presentation has a copyrighted ASL Rose logo in the bottom corner and is usually in the very last slide or a slide before it.

Examinations

Examinations are divided into two exams: midterm and final.

The midterm is based on the first 33 pages.  The final exam is based on the last 34 pages. 

The format of examinations is:

  5. 3 Persons/Their Matching Quotations

Each examination contains 45 items.
